With the popularity of weblogs among search engine spiders, it’s pretty easy to get links back to your site.
Many blogs use “dofollow” tags on their comments. So by leaving a useful comment you can get a searchable link back to your site. Don’t just leave a comment which says “Visit my website!”. A nice comment about the content of the article or even adding a tip which the author has overlooked can get approved.
The best links would be from popular blogs which have some relation to your own content.
Even if the blog does not use “dofollow” links on their comments, you can still get some clicks back to your site if it’s a popular blog or article that you are commenting on.
An easy way to check for “nofollow” tags is to right click on the page and click “View Page Source”, then go down until you find the comments for the page and look for a tag that says “rel=nofollow” or similar.
Most blogs which are set up as “dofollow” will have a badge or text link which says “no follow free” or “your links could be nofollow free” or “Comment Luv enabled” or something, and these usually link back to software that you can add to your blogs to make your comments “nofollow free”!
