If it’s working then see ya. Same with a google search. If your not in the top 10 then they don’t tend to find you very easy either.

There are some ways you can speed up the pages, e.g Gzip’ing the pages, although it will increase CPU load on the server & that could be an issue for high traffic sites.

Gzip’ing can be handled in .htaccess file and/or via php, it’s does have an effect though on the speed.

Wow , thanks for this so much!
I never really thought about that…
When i read this article , i tested my site imediatly, and it showed up that it is very slow…
So , i spent whole morning optimizing it , and now it is almost 2x faster
Here are details from Pigdom Tools:
16 Feb 2009 12:02 CET 2.88 seconds
16 Feb 2009 11:55 CET 4.09 seconds
16 Feb 2009 08:25 CET 4.53 seconds
From 4.53 secs i went to 2.88

Sad but true… I’m loosing almost 20% of my traffic because of slow ads. I have tried several options and the results are the same.

This is very true. And with high speed dsl and cable the industry standard now nobody waits very long for any site. If it’s working then see ya. Same with a google search. If your not in the top 10 then they don’t tend to find you very easy either.
