Here are some tips for getting search engine traffic to your website or blog…

Upgradation: Add fresh content once in a while but not 500 pages all at once.
Search engines prefer websites that are regularly upgraded, over those that simply sit tight without having any changes made to them. It’s a good idea to upgrade the pages every few months, or even daily or weekly, even if they’re small changes.

Keyword research: Keywords are what link searchers with your website.
Find out about the most frequently used keywords for the search engines which are associated with the services or products that you offer. Website traffic can be increased if you use these keywords in the form of text.

Blog hosting: Wordpress can be installed and customized on your own hosting.
Always host your blog on your own domain. If you place your blog on another domain, it may not be able to attract public attention, build confidence, and improve rating in search results. So using a different domain is the biggest mistake one can ever make. Using free blog hosting, such as Wordpress.com doesn’t allow you to customize your blog.

Great question, Jack!

I know that someone somewhere has done the stats on this topic, but I don’t know who or where and they probably charge for their advice.

But, my opinion is that you could space out up to five articles, (spacing them out would look better to the spiders) as long as the content is decent and related to the topic.

You really don’t want to add really useless content just for the spiders, because then when someone gets to your page they say “What the …?” and then leave. And you can’t make any money if people don’t stay to check out the content.

There is an article here … http://www.videobloggingtips.com/2008/06/blogging-tips-how-many-posts-day.html that might be helpful.

Thanks again for the question,

By the way, I also wanted to add that some blog software, such as Wordpress, allows you to schedule your posts by time and date that you want them to be published. This allows you to add several articles at one time without publishing them all at the same time. Saves time as far as having to log in and post each article one at a time.
